UPDATE 11/23/21

I am now using T-Mobile Home Internet 5g router(NO DATA CAP or THROTTLE)   T-mobile 5g

Its 55 a month, If your address does not qualify use another one. You can check on the site before hand. For me my home did not qualify but i would get 5g signal. So i just used a different address that did.  Set up the router and ran some speed tests.    If the router does not perform well you can take it back there is no contract.

New setup is still using the Rut240 or Gl.Inet.   I plug an ethernet to WAN Port on the RUT or GL to the back of the T-mobile router.   Tmobile router is big so if that is an issue than go the normal route of using a sim card with the RUT or GL.

There is no settings in the Tmobile router that will help you get out of relayed, its just like any other mobile data hotspot.  Just that one has no data caps or throttled speeds.

What you will need

Rut240, GL.iNet GL-MT300N-V2    Verify Router is compatible with Mobile Network. 

GL-AR750(no Sim)  will need a host router For internet like the T-Mobile 5g Home Internet. 

There might be other routers that accept sim cards but what is important is that it will allow OpenVPN. You can use Wireguard as well but that is another process.

I went with rut240 Because it works with Cricket.   Gl.inet looked to have some issues with cricket network even though its on att. 

i will be going over the Rut240 configuration     GL.INET SETUP  FURTHER DOWN

1. Open Account with OVPN with Public IPv4 addon. My referral link  Ovpn Ref

2.  Download the Configuration File with Publc IPv4 

Make sure you have the Openvpn Protocol set for the Public IP and make note of the IP Address

3.Connect to Wifi of the Rut240 and In your browser put http://192.168.1.1/  to  Login to the Gui.   

than go to services and select VPN

4.  Add a name in the field and click add new.    than Click edit

After you Finish step 5 make sure its enabled like the above Pic

5. copy setup like below pick.   Make sure to upload your config file that you downloaded from OVPN.

    Username and password will be the same from OVPN.  Hit save    

6.  In the Helium app pair the device to get the Diagnostic report.  We want to know what the IP and Mac address. 

7. Now go to  Network than Lan.  Scroll down and look for Static leases.  Click on ADD

    Name it what you want.    under Mac Match it to the Helium Miner.  Ip address Should Match as             well. Hit Save.

8.  Now got to Network  than Firewall.  Click on Port Forwarding.   At the bottom going to add new port rules.   Name-Anything   Protocol-TCP  Ports-44158  

Internal IP-YourHeliumMiner  Internal Port-44158. Click Add.  Will do the same for Port 1680 But protocol will be UDP.   Hit Save

8.  Now click edit On the new created port rules.  Match zones from pic.  Source Zone-OpenVpn

    Internal zone-Lan.  Check for both Port rules.    Hit Save.  

9.  Lets check to make sure VPN is Connected   Click Status than Network.   On grey bar Click              OpenVpn.  Should say enabled and connected 

10. Check port 44158 is Open.  The Ip should match The Public IPv4 from OVPN.  

11. Reboot the router and verify Port is still open.   Also Power off you Helium miner for about 10 minutes and than power it back up.    If all is working correctly the you miner should get out of relayed status. Might take some time to update so be patient. 

I also use heliumstatus.io

i did leave mine powered off for a bit to where it showed offline.   When i powered it back up i checked on it a few hours and got.(look at pic Below)     But most important relayed is NO   and the Observed Listen Addresses  shows your public IP from OVPN.

GL.INET SETUP

1. Login to Ovpn or Create and account.  Click On Configuration Files   Referral Link OVPN

2.  Download Config Files.   You will need the Public IPv4 Addon

3. Connect to GL.INET wifi or via Ethernet.   Open Web browser and go to http://192.168.8.1/  or the IP that's on Bottom of Router

4. Go to VPN than OpenVPN.   

5. Upload The config file.   Use the same username and password from OVPN

6.  Click Connect.   Should look like this when done.

7. Setting up a static ip for port forwarding.   Click On more Settings and than Lan IP.

 You will need to match the MAC adress of the Helium Miner.   There is Examples of how to get Mac address Further Up.   You get it from the Diagnostics in the Helium app

8.  Now lets forward some Ports.  Click On firewall and Match what i have in the Picture

9.  Also a good idea to upgrade the router.
